Texas initially opened the Compassionate Use Program to Texas residents with seizure disorders and epilepsy in 2015. Over the years, scientific studies increased the evidence on these conditions and symptoms treated with cannabinoids. In 2019, Texas expanded the list of conditions eligible through the Compassionate Use Program. We work with patients to use medical marijuana as a complimentary treatment for these qualifying conditions.
Cannabis is used to treat pain, anxiety, insomnia, loss of appetite and nausea related to terminal cancer. There is growing evidence that activation of the CB1 and CB2 receptors play important roles in the pathways that control cell growth and regulation. At the Texas Cannabis Clinic, we will continue to monitor studies and offer treatments as the evidence becomes available. We are not just "marijuana doctors" but rather a science based healthcare provider. Evidence based treatment for cancer related symptoms is usually provided in a 1:1 CBD/THC ratio tincture.
Muscle spasticity is when muscles become stiff, tighten up and resist stretching. Patients with damage to their brain and nerves can develop muscle spasticity and eventually these muscle contractions can cause severe pain, discomfort, and/or deformity.
Muscle spasticity can come from a very large range of underlying conditions including multiple sclerosis, Charcot-Marie-Tooth, stroke and many other conditions. Treatment for muscle spasticity related symptoms are usually provided in a 3:1 CBD/THC ratio tincture.
Medical marijuana Texas laws allow is to treat an array of symptoms that come with autism. Common symptoms such as aggression, self injury, hyperactivity, insomnia and anxiety have been shown to be improved with cannabinoids. A recent study showed an overall improvement of these symptoms in 75% of autistic children treated with a 20:1 ratio of CBD/THC.
Cannabinoids are used to treat pain, muscles spasms, and appetite loss that comes from this disease.
Medical marijuana cannabis contains antispasmodic qualities which have shown to be an effective treatment for some seizures. Cannabis oils that are rich in CBD are the preferred method for treatment. The tincture ratio of 20:1 CBD/THC is what usually works the best for these conditions.
According to medical marijuana Texas law, patients who suffer from debilitating neurological conditions such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease are also eligible to enroll in the Compassionate Use Program. Common symptoms that cannabis can be used for are pain, muscles spasticity, tremors, insomnia, appetite loss and aggressive behaviors related to neurodegenerative diseases.
