Yes. Medical marijuana is legal if you qualify for the medical conditions specified by the State of Texas. Texas Cannabis Clinic can provide you access to the state’s Compassionate Use Program. Using the program you can access one of the state’s dispensaries.
No. Patients in Texas are not permitted to grow their own marijuana. While some other states allow the cultivation of plants by patients, Texas does not. In Texas, you must buy your low dose THC cannabis products from a licensed state dispensary under the recommendation of your physician that is certified with the Compassionate Use Program. No. Medical cannabis products are only available to licensed patients and is only legally obtained through a licensed state dispensary. If a patient is a minor or incapacitated, then a guardian or designated caretaker can pick up the medical marijuana from the dispensary for the patient whether it be in Austin or elsewhere.
Currently, no. The State of Texas only allows dispensaries to make tinctures, pills, lozenges, gummies and sprays of cannabis products at this time. There are very high quality standards that the dispensaries have to abide by to produce medicinal grade CBD and THC for the residents of Texas. State law prohibits the dispensaries from providing cannabis in a dry leaf form that could be used for smoking.
No. If our physician certifies you into the Compassionate Use Program (CUP), you will have access to CBD/THC products with (or without) the natural occurring terpenes that are not allowed to be sold in any stores in Texas. The products coming from the CUP are recommended by the physician at the correct milligrams per body weight as previously studied. The high quality standards of the dispensaries will not allow pesticides or chemicals to be present in the medicine. Each dispensary must grow, harvest, process and package all the medicine.
No. You only need a proof of ID to pick up your medical marijuana product at the dispensary. If you need your caregiver to pick up your medical marijuana, our physician can add them you your profile.
Texas does not issue medical cards. Medical cannabis prescriptions are entered into an online database called the Compassionate Use Registry of Texas.

Texas dispensaries are regulated by the Department of Public Safety and all prescriptions are held on an online database that is also regulated by the DPS. Please call 512-424-0290 to verify a prescription. This is the direct line to the Compassionate Use Program.

A patient’s participation in the Compassionate Use Program does not, in itself, disqualify them from obtaining or maintaining a License to Carry (LTC). Visit the DPS website at dps.texas.gov for more information.
When traveling in Texas, we recommend keeping a copy of the prescription information provided that comes stapled to the prescription bag. It’s important to remember that cannabis-based medicine is still a federally illegal substance, so it is not legal to travel with it out of state.
While you are protected in Texas, the airport is under federal jurisdiction. Since cannabis is still illegal on the federal level, flying with your medicine is technically not permitted. If you have any additional questions, we recommend reaching out to the DPS directly by visiting dps.texas.gov.
The 1% THC cap is for the final weight of the finished medicinal product. For example, Texas Dispensaries may offer a 20 mg THC gummy. They grow cannabis plants that contain up to 30% THC. Flower is not a permitted product in Texas under the current law.
No, the THC dose is determined by the physician and there is no limit to the amount of milligrams a physician may prescribe. Physicians prescribe the amount of THC they believe to be most beneficial for their patient’s symptoms.
No, patients can fill with their dispensary as often as they’d like if their prescription has the milligrams available to fill their order.
Texas Original tinctures are designed to bypass the digestive tract by directly absorbing into the bloodstream through sensitive absorption areas in the mouth. Their gummies contain fast-acting technology for a quicker onset and more efficient absorption. It is recommended to start low and go slow as the onset may be delayed depending on several factors.
Tincture: Consume orally, recommended to take with food. Patients will receive 1 mL oral syringes with their tinctures. Fill the syringe to your prescribed dose, then place under your tongue or in the pocket of your cheek. Push the syringe to administer the tincture. It is recommended you hold the tincture in the pocket of the cheek or under your tongue for approximately 30-60 seconds to increase absorption.
Gummy: Consume orally, recommended to take with food. Chew the gummy thoroughly before swallowing.
The onset varies depending on your means of administration, body weight, metabolism, diet and more. On average, tinctures taken underneath the tongue may take effect within 30 minutes –1 hour. Texas Original gummies contain fast-acting technology, which allows for a quicker onset and more efficient absorption in the body and may take effect within 15-60 minutes.
Results can vary depending on the condition and symptoms being treated. Some patients report immediate results, while others report results within 2-3 weeks. In addition, a patient’s body weight, diet, current medications, lifestyle choices and more can contribute to results in symptom relief.
